Sixth Form
An introduction to the Sixth Form at Dyffryn Taf
Our Sixth Form mission is to empower, educate, and inspire young minds through a nurturing and inclusive learning environment, following our school vision “Gallwn, gofalwn”, “We can, we care”. We strive to foster academic excellence, personal growth, and a lifelong passion for learning, “I Fyny For Nod”, “Reach For The Highest”, by providing a supportive and engaging community. Our dedicated team of educators is committed to promoting intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and creativity, while instilling a sense of responsibility, resilience, and respect, creating healthy and ethically informed students.
Together, we aim to develop students who are ambitious and capable learners ready for higher education, who have creative and confident minds ready to embark on employment and apprenticeships.
In the Sixth Form (Years 12 and 13), students can choose from a range of A-Level and vocational BTEC courses, completed alongside the Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales (ASBW) qualification. There is no fixed pathway for students - rather, we seek to provide a bespoke package of study for each student which reflects his, her or their needs, their achievement before the Sixth Form and their hopes and ambitions for the future.
Welcome to the Sixth Form September 2025
Dear Sixth Form Students,
Congratulations on your excellent performance in your GCSE examinations! We are extremely proud of your achievements and are delighted that you have chosen to continue your studies with us in the Sixth Form.
As you begin this exciting new chapter, we ask that you arrive promptly on your first day and make your way to the main hall, where you will be organised into your form groups. This will be an opportunity to meet your peers, form tutors, and begin your induction into sixth form life.
Please ensure that you are wearing the correct sixth form uniform and arrive fully equipped for the day ahead. A positive, professional start is vital, and we expect all students to be prepared and ready to engage fully from day one.
By now, you should have confirmed your return to school and your chosen subjects. If you have any outstanding concerns regarding your place or your subject choices, please contact the Head of Sixth Form as soon as possible so that any issues can be addressed before term begins.
We look forward to supporting you throughout your sixth form journey and helping you achieve further success in the years to come.
Mrs L Lloyd-Phillips
