Coronavirus Statement
Please find below a statement released by the Director of Education;
We appreciate that there is a level of concern about Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) and would like to reassure parents and pupils that we continue to take advice from Public Health Wales and are taking all appropriate measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
We have issued advice to headteachers and asked that they consider rearranging any events that would involve large gatherings of pupils, staff and guests. There is no current directive around closing schools, however, if the situation changes, we will update you accordingly.
In the meantime, we ask parents to please report all absences to schools in the usual manner.
You should stay at home for 14 days if you or your child have either:
• a high temperature
• a new continuous cough
DO NOT go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital. You DO NOT need to contact 111. Please go to NHS online for advice.
If you need to stay at home follow self-isolation advice from Public Health Wales.
You should only contact 111 if:
• you feel you cannot cope with your symptoms at home
• your condition gets worse
• your symptoms do not get better after seven days
Remember there are some simple steps you can take to protect you and your family. These include:
• Washing hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or using an alcohol-based hand sanitiser that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water is not available
• Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
• Cover coughs or sneezes with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the bin and wash hands immediately
We appreciate your co-operation at what is a very difficult time for us all, however, it is important we work together to protect our communities.
Gareth Morgans, Director of Education
